Continuation of fall in ultrasound scanner import (2014(1-6))

In the first half of 2014, Russia imported ultrasound scanners and their accessories for the amount of $89,5 mln., that is for 28% less than for the same period in 2013. For comparison, the import volumes in the first half of 2011, 2012 and 2013 were $69,5 mln., $128 mln. and $124 mln., respectively.

The rating of the countries-exporters of ultrasound scanners is given below.

1. Korea - $22,3 mln.

2. China - $16,9 mln.

3. USA - $14,7 mln.

4. Austria - $12,9 mln.

5. Japan - $12,2 mln.

It follows from the given data that the import of ultrasound scanners from Asia takes more than 50% from the total Russian import. And Japan which usually was on the 2nd, 3rd place in this rating fell on the fifth place. We should specially note China which for the first time rose to the 2nd place. Both purely Chinese manufacturers and such world-known manufacturers as GE, Philips, Siemens, Aloka etc., supplied their ultrasound scanners from China, and the share of the latter has been steadily decreasing and in the first half of 2014 amounted to only 14%. The Chinese manufacturers were represented by Mindray, Sonoscape, SIUI, Chison, Welld, Emperor, Landwind, Edan, Kaixin and Bestman. More than 50% of the total Chinese export, including the Chinese export of GE, Philips, Siemens and Aloka, go to Mindray (Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Chemical Electronics Co., Ltd.). The number of ultrasound scanners which Mundray supplied to Russia in the first half of 2014, can be estimated around 700 ps. It may be also supposed that as well as for the results of 2013, the Chinese manufacturer Mindray steadily takes the 2nd place among the manufacturers-suppliers by the number of ultrasound scanners supplied to Russia. The stability of Mindray is also characterized by the fact that at the general fall in imports in 28%, the volume of supplies by Mindray decreased for only 7%.

The most popular Mindray ultrasound scanners in Russia are the following:

- Mindray DP-50 - a portable black-and-white ultrasound scanner on the basis of X-treme platform engine with 15 inches LCD-display and battery

- Mindray DC-N6 - a stationary ultrasound scanner with color, energy, directed and permanent-wave modes of Doppler; equipped with the built-in accumulator up to two hours of continuous operation and 15-inches LCD-display with resolution 1280x1024 pixels.

- Mindray DP-6900 - a black-and-white portable ultrasound scanner with a CRT monitor.

- Mindray DC-7 - a stationary color ultrasound scanner with 4D function and 19-inches monitor is in great demand in Russia in the past three years.
